The world of Pathology is rapidly changing. New developments in digital camera technology, automated image acquisition and simplified data transfer have a deep impact on the daily workflow within a hospital.
The time-consuming manual examination of suspicious patient samples became obsolete. The risky transport of glass slide for a second opinion is no longer necessary. Alternatively, digital images of large tissue sections are created by whole slide scanners; the storage of huge data volume through cloud computing gives an easy access to a worldwide database.
